Frequently Asked Questions

The village model is simple: foster and adoptive families shouldn't have to do this alone. It takes a whole community — neighbors, friends, church members, local organizations, and everyday people with willing hearts — to truly support a child and the family caring for them.
At Fostering A Chord, the village isn't a metaphor. It's a real network of people in Georgia who show up in practical, meaningful ways for families in their community.
Some foster. Most don't. All of them matter.
-
Not at all.
In fact, most of our village is made up of people who have never fostered — and may never foster — but who show up in ways that make a real difference.
Bringing a meal. Offering childcare. Donating supplies. Connecting a family with a resource they didn't know existed.
The village needs all kinds of people. You just have to be willing to show up.

There are so many ways.
You can bring meals during a new placement — those first few days are chaotic and nobody has time to cook.
You can offer babysitting, help reorganize a room, send a gift card, or just check in consistently so a family knows someone is still paying attention.
You can also get involved through local organizations like Atlanta Angels, Fostering Together, Waymark Foster, and Mount Pisgah Fosters, or through foster care support ministries at local churches.

We accept monetary donations by credit card, cash, or check. Every dollar goes directly toward supporting foster and adoptive families in Georgia — through meals, resources, activities, and community training.
-
Every donation we receive goes back into the community — no fluff, no overhead waste.
We use contributions to provide meals for families during new placements, fund activities and outings for children in care, purchase books and trauma-informed resources for parents, and host community training and workshops.
When you donate to Fostering A Chord, you are directly investing in the stability, wellbeing, and support of real families in Georgia.
-
Yes — completely free.
We believe that cost should never be a barrier for a foster or adoptive family trying to learn, grow, or find support.
Our resource library, educational content, and community workshops are available at no charge to families.
Because the village shows up — and that includes making sure the right tools are always within reach.
-
We support the whole family.
Our resources include materials for foster and adoptive parents navigating trauma-informed parenting, books and tools for teens and older youth in care, and activities and comfort items for younger children.
Whether you're parenting a toddler through their first placement or walking alongside a teenager who's been in the system for years — there is something here for you.

We would love that conversation.
Local businesses and organizations can partner with us through sponsorships, donation drives, volunteer days, or event support. If your team has a skill, a resource, or a heart for this work — there is a place for you in the village.
Reach out and let's figure out what that looks like together.
